Domaine Girard

 Alaigne is in the Malpère wine region.  The red wines are full and fruity yet soft and round.  The whites are crisp and refreshing.  One of the best growers in the area is Domaine Girard and his vines are to be found all around the outskirts of the village.  He produces three wonderful reds, one of which is the notoriously difficult pinot noir.  He also grows the chardonnay grape and produces an oaked and a traditional un-oaked version both of which are excellent.
